BA to fly London–Austin by Dreamliner

[Routes News]

From March next year, British Airways (BA) will fly from Heathrow (LHR) to Austin Bergstrom (AUS) by B787.

The new service to the capital of Texas will launch in early March with five weekly frequencies before turning daily on May 5.

Lynne Embleton, BA’s director of strategy, said the carrier is adding destinations and frequencies as A380s and B787s join its fleet.

“We’re excited to be the only airline offering direct flights from London to Austin,” she said.

“We believe it will prove very popular with both business and leisure customers and will be our third route to Texas, after Houston and Dallas.”

By picking a B787 for the route, BA also aims to appeal to the many high-tech businesses in Austin’s ‘Silicon Hills’, she added.

‘Nerd bird’ flights to destinations such as Austin, San Jose or San Francisco typically feature sophisticated entertainment options and recent aircraft models.
