What would your advice be for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for a newb? I consider myself a newb at SEO. All of my SEO “training” has been reading on the web what to do. Lots and lots to learn and I am enjoying it, but just wish I had more time…
It seems like websites cannot be without a social network presence. Setting up accounts on Google+, Twitter, and Facebook seem like a good start to me. There are other places as well. Youtube is a nice place to set up an account to help with free advertising and SEO. The problem I find with youtube is it takes me a fair bit of time to create even a short video. It is enjoyable, but time consuming.
Backlinks seem very important in SEO. I have tried to find places to back link to this website without spamming. The social networking websites give ok backlinks.
Having good meta descriptions and keywords seems to help with SEO. Use the same words that people will use in their searches to increase chances that your web page will show up near the top.
The number 1 SEO measure (from what I read) is having good content. Original and popular content is best. Something that will get visitors to stay longer, click around your website, and return later.
What do you suggest to improve SEO?
